Insecure and Secure Relationships

In insecure relationships, people tend to seek control over others. The insecure engagement can take the form of anxious attachment with the irreplaceable other, for example pursuit, and anxious clinging.

Conversely, in healthy, secure relationships, the respective parties get a sense of felt security. Coming from a secure base allows the individuals to reach out to significant others, and deal with conflict and stress positively. Boundaries are respected and the communication between the individuals are open. As a result, the involved parties are drawn toward, instead of against each other.
