Life Unusual : 25 Apr 2020

It is easy to lose track of the days in a week during a Movement Control Order (MCO), or during a lockdown. The days don't matter anymore because they are all the same; same routine, same faces, same environment, same same. Can be worse if it's coupled with the loss of income and feelings of loneliness. It gets depressing after awhile if one is not mindful. Quite like being incarcerated, "everything" has been taken away. The usual sense of "freedom" is no more. In such circumstances, it's easy to lose sense of one's identity too.

I think one of the ways to inoculate against the above is to inject variety into our daily life as much as we can, making effort to do or learn different things. Try to reach out to at least one person a day (e.g. a call, a kind gesture / gift). Also, continue to celebrate the week "days", for example making sure of boundaries of what to do / not to do during the week days vs. the week ends as if we are still going out to work. Practice gratitude daily, get some sun and at least some stretching exercises indoors.

Take care, and stay healthy physically and mentally!
